Baylee:

Hello everyone. Welcome back to this week's episode of Mocktail Minutes. This is Bailey,

Brianna:

This is Brianna.

Baylee:

today I am drinking just ingredients, orange, pineapple flavored water, and then I mixed in some vanilla collagen from the roasted purpose. Not bad.

Brianna:

Hmm. Nice. I'm doing a bloom. The sparkling energy drink, the peach mango. It's really good, but I did not know it had 180 milligrams of caffeine, so I

Baylee:

Oh my God.

Brianna:

I don't think I'm gonna drink the whole thing because there's different ones, right?

Baylee:

I don't know. I've never looked at those closely.

Brianna:

Me neither. Until today, so I'm not gonna drink the whole thing. We'll see. I was like,

Baylee:

I'm not a big energy drink person in general. I don't, I don't really get them too often, or it's been a very long time, I guess.

Brianna:

I think this. I think it's from green tea and it does have ine. That kind of helps with like calmness with, we'll see. Maybe I'll just drink the whole thing and let you guys know how it turned out.

Baylee:

Going rogue.

Brianna:

Just gone broke. We'll take it for the date, but yeah.

Baylee:

Perfect. This week we are talking about some wellness gift ideas. Some splurges we think that would be worth it, and then maybe some things that you can probably pass on. I mean, when this goes live, it'll be Thanksgiving day. So if you're going Black Friday shopping and you listen to it, then perfect. Or otherwise, just use this to kind of guide gift giving or just get yourself something nice.

Brianna:

Yeah, I mean, I'm sure there's gonna be, I mean, there's already Black Friday deals, but if you're thinking about any of these, these are ones we would splurge on. I'm gonna start with the obvious and just say Oura Ring, they have a new

Baylee:

Oh my gosh, yes.

Brianna:

I would definitely get the Oura ring. I feel like it's totally worth it.

Baylee:

Oh yeah. Especially I think, I mean, for the guys it's great too, but especially for the women tracking her cycles. I love it for that.

Brianna:

Yeah. Yeah, I Hands down sleep activity,

Baylee:

looking at the sleep. The stress is really important. I think it just in general, it helps you get more in tune with yourself.

Brianna:

exactly.

Baylee:

I think a good splurge would be a sauna,

Brianna:

Yes. That's on

Baylee:

and it doesn't have to be like those big wooden ones. You could get like the portable ones where you like. Sit in a tent with your head and your arms out. I think that would be a good thing to look at because it really helps, just like your natural detox pathways, like it's gonna get you sweating. I mean, don't overuse it, know you're getting inflamed, but I think it can definitely be a good thing to just add in.

Brianna:

Yeah. And I think women do better with heat, you know? And so sauna, I like it. I think the infrared saunas would be like the ultimate best one, but even like higher dose has like a sauna blanket.

Baylee:

Yeah, I've heard about those.

Brianna:

I have one. I like it. Do I need to use it more? Yes. But. If someone is wanting one, I think it's definitely a good kind of like middle of the road.'cause those could be expensive, but it's, yeah, they're easy to use.

Baylee:

Do you feel like it'd be more convenient to use the tint or use the blanket?

Brianna:

It's a good question.

Baylee:

In theory, I feel like the blanket would work better, but in reality, I feel like I would've used a tent more.

Brianna:

I think I would use the tent more. But the blanket is nice'cause like your head could be out of it. You could like watch TV while you're in there sweating to death. It like takes up less space too, I guess. Actually, I don't know. I don't know how those fold up ones, the popup ones work. I don't know how much space they take. But yeah, the blankets are great. The next one, kind of like along the lines of the infrared, I think one of those like red light masks or like the

Baylee:

That's literally what I was gonna say.

Brianna:

I don't have one. I know Higher dose also has one. I don't know, I don't know the comparison between the higher dose one and the Omnilux, but. I think that's my next big splurge.

Baylee:

I have one I bought one, so it does red light and it does blue light. I bought one on the last Amazon sale over. Like summer, I think they had one.

Brianna:

Mm-hmm.

Baylee:

And so it was a lesser one. Like it wasn't super expensive. I think I paid 50 for it. I mean, I feel like it helps I switch between the red light and the blue light. And so one thing you wanna look for, red light, you want to aim for like 630 to 660. What's the unit? It's like n nanometer is nm nanometer.

Brianna:

I don't know. That's a good question.

Baylee:

But you want 630 to 660, that's what you're looking for. For red light near infrared, you're gonna look at more like eight 10 to 850. If you're looking for like deeper penetration, which that's gonna help the inflammation healing six around that, like six 50, that is what's gonna help kind of like stimulate that collagen, which is what I was looking for.

Brianna:

Mm-hmm.

Baylee:

So you can do that too.

Brianna:

I know I was just on the hire desk website right now. They have the mask and the infrared hat and the bundle and I guess the hat helps, like with hair, you

Baylee:

Yeah.

Brianna:

Yeah. I'm, I'm gonna get one. That's what I'm getting myself for Christmas.

Baylee:

Yes,

Brianna:

be getting anything for myself for Christmas. But

Baylee:

oh, why not?

Brianna:

I know. I

Baylee:

I do like that one. It is nice. Gann loves to play with mine, but. I feel like I did notice, but benefits with it when I was definitely being more consistent with it. Another I think would be good, and these actually aren't too expensive, so we're calling'em splurges. I feel like anytime, sometimes we buy things we just like, oh, I'm splurging and it's like$10.

Brianna:

Yeah. Right.

Baylee:

but like an acupressure mat.

Brianna:

Yes, that was on my list too. And those are like, they range, I don't know if there's any like specific better one, but I'm

Baylee:

I mean, yeah, those can be really good. So they're really helpful. Like if you have chronic pain, like back aches neck pain because it has like little spikes in it that are stimulating your pressure points, which encourages like the release of endorphins. And so it's kinda like your body's natural painkillers. So it can help with pain, it can help with like. Stress reduction because when you have this like physical stimulation, it's gonna help shift your nervous system into more of a relaxed state. I think something like this is really good if you're the type of person that's like everything is pointing to high stress, but I don't feel my stress. It really forces to like get you into that switch of your nervous system. It can help you sleep. It's really gonna help with circulation because you're boosting that blood flow in areas of contact where that like pressure is hitting. So it can actually help with like nutrient delivery and recovering.

Brianna:

Ooh, I didn't even think about that. Yeah, that's a good one. I think.

Baylee:

really like that one. Yeah.

Brianna:

That one. I don't like looking on Amazon. I don't, I don't think you would. I, you can get one that's not a splurge. Like I know there are certain brands out there that are supposed to be like the end all be all, but yeah. I mean, I get a, get a cheaper one. See how you feel. I would be really interested in doing that. That's on my list. The other one, the, the other one on my list that is a splurge would be like the NormaTec compression leg things. Have you seen those?

Baylee:

Yeah.

Brianna:

Yeah, those are expensive. I know Higher Dose sells, NormaTec. I just, I've been on higher, obviously. I am being influenced. I bought a lot from Higher Dose. I like them. They have Afterpay, so, you know, like if you,

Baylee:

Space it out and you don't even realize.

Brianna:

it out, you know? Those are really good, especially if you like strength train a lot. You feel like you have like bad recovery, you know, you need help with like muscle or muscle flow, blood flow. Those, I feel like would definitely be a good investment. And you like if your husband or spouse, like whoever also lifts, like they're interchange, like you can, anyone can use'em.

Baylee:

Yeah, that would be a good idea.

Brianna:

Mm-hmm. And I know we have like a, a wellness place here that's like a I cryo or something like that. And like they charge for people to use'em. Like you can go in there and use NormaTec for like 45 minutes for like 25 bucks or something. And people do it, which I'm like, so if you wanna try it out, you could do that first. But if you're someone who's like, oh, I'm gonna, I am gonna go pay I cryo to do it. I mean, you could just buy your own.

Baylee:

A lot of chiropractic places around me have'em, and they use it with their patients.

Brianna:

Yeah.

Baylee:

that would be a good one. Another one she mentioned lifting a dumbbell set like. You can get good workouts and with a full dumbbell dumbbell set, not like you don't have to go buy up to like a hundred pounds or anything crazy. Like mine only go up to 25 pounds. Right now I'm at the point where I need like a 30, 35 for some, but like right now I can just kind of slow down or add an extra rep or set or something. But yeah, they have like the pyramid where it's like

Brianna:

The little pyramid. Yeah.

Baylee:

25. That'd be a good one.

Brianna:

I think they also have ones on Amazon that are like the ones that you can adjust.

Baylee:

I don't like those,

Brianna:

Okay. I've never tried'em.

Baylee:

so I have some, I don't like'em. They're really bulky and it's kind of a pain, like when you're doing super sets to switch back and forth. The weights'cause like dumbbells. You are either using the same weight or for, you're using a different one. Like I like kind of set up little stations for myself. And so it's so much easier. Like, oh, I can do 15 here and then I'm gonna go over here and I'm gonna do 20. Where like adjustables you, you're just like constantly having to mess with them. So I actually prefer just splurging and get a set of

Brianna:

Yeah. And I always tell people like, if you are needing to go on a higher like weight, buy like one of like 1 35 or one 30 and then 1 35, like you don't have to get the pairs.'cause you can always just work one side at a time.

Baylee:

But how annoying is it that, that you have to buy'em one at a time?

Brianna:

I know.

Baylee:

well, I guess on Amazon they do sell'em

Brianna:

I hate that they're not in pair. Well, and then when they're not in pairs, they're still, they're so expensive. It's like a dollar per pound. So if you want like a 30 pair pound of demo, it's like 60 bucks. I'm like,

Baylee:

You could always buy one, but I would recommend dumbbell set.

Brianna:

Yeah. That is a good one, and you're gonna use it as a thing. My last one, I haven't done a ton of diving into it, but I have a lot of clients that like, it would be the hatch.

Baylee:

Ooh. Yes, that's a good idea. Gannon has one, so

Brianna:

know, they have one for kids. I'm like,

Baylee:

But they have one for adults now too. The Hatch Restore. And I mean we use it for Gannon every night and I have a schedule set, so it's like automatically comes in at nighttime, it comes on at nap. Time comes on like when it's time for wake up, we can and it's like fun. He likes to turn it off in the morning. But yeah, I like the hatch for kids or as adults'cause they do have one now that's geared towards adults.

Brianna:

Yeah. And it helps with like those, like, like getting on that sleep schedule of like your consistent. Wake time, and I don't think the subscription for it is that expensive. Do you have to have the subscription?

Baylee:

So I don't have the subscription for ours that we have now. There are, it does limit to what you can do, but there's still lots of things that you can do. So like I've thought about buying it because like for, I wonder if you can have, if you have to have a subscription for each one or if you can just have one for all of your hatches. Is that something

Brianna:

if it's anything like the Alexa. You could do it off one like,'cause

Baylee:

I would think so.

Brianna:

'cause they use like white noise and all that with their Alexas and they have like that the kids ones have a white and we just have one sub like subscription and all of them can be used. So I wonder if it's like that, but I don't know.

Baylee:

I was gonna look to see what it was. I just saw it the other day. I wanna say it's like$80. I could be very wrong though.

Brianna:

Yeah, like I think with the subscription you can like chat with someone. I think you get more sounds

Baylee:

Yes. And I know for like the kids when like it'll read stories and everything. So then like I kind of debated like, do I actually knit it?'cause I do enjoy reading stories with him. And so like, I don't wanna take that away, so I'm like, for him, I don't think we need it, but then I'm like, if we were to get more hatches, maybe that would be helpful. But yeah, you can definitely do more with it. And I think it does like wind down routines, like meditations and everything. But with like the, yes, with the restore. So one of the big things about it is the sunrise alarm, and it's supposed to like simulate a natural sunrise. So it like, kind of like slowly brightens. Over time, like you can actually pick, I think it's between like five minutes to an hour as to like how quickly it rises, and you can choose different sounds and adjust the light.

Brianna:

Yeah.

Baylee:

can use it to like program that wind down routine. So like if you like to read, you could set it for like, be on it this time and then switch to the sound machine. At this time it has a sunset cycle as well, so it's gonna gradually dim.

Brianna:

I like that. I have, I just, I have one client and she got it'cause sleep was like horrible for her and she like is obsessed with it. Like, she's like I'll never not'cause it's gotten her on such a consistent Yeah, she does her meditation, she does her wind down time. It's like slowly wakes her up.'cause she was one where she would like set an alarm and just like keep hitting

Baylee:

Yes. Keep painting

Brianna:

Yeah, and she's like, it's really helped with that. She feels better rested, so I think anything that helps with your sleep is totally worth it. We spend a lot of time sleeping, or we should, so

Baylee:

We should, yeah, maybe I should splurge on that for myself.

Brianna:

Yeah. Right. Mm-hmm.

Baylee:

Yeah, that would be a good one. I would say. Last one, a walking pad. I mean, it's been very trendy for a while now, but I know there's lots of people out there who are debating it. Highly recommend the walking pad. I have two of them. I have one downstairs and I have one upstairs in my office. I mean, a lot of times during podcasting I'll be walking on it or like when I'm meeting with clients on a meeting, on a Zoom, I'm usually just walking away on the walking pad. I don't even have a chair in my office anymore.

Brianna:

yeah. No, it's great. And I think. You really don't need a super fancy one. Like you can get a pretty inexpensive one that works fantastic. Like you don't necessarily need it to like sink to your phone or go super fast or go uphill or anything like that. Like,

Baylee:

Mine don't incline. I didn't do that because I'm like, I don't need an incline while I'm trying to

Brianna:

no, I

Baylee:

a little excessive.

Brianna:

don't need to fall on my face.'cause I would, and it's like if I wanna go walk on an incline, I'll use a treadmill or I'll go walk a pill somewhere or something. I just want something to help me move during the day.

Baylee:

Mm-hmm. But I think in general, they're like around 150. Sometimes you can find'em a little bit cheaper. I have the Deer Run brand. I like that one.

Brianna:

I don't know which one I

Baylee:

I have the one upstairs is Deer Run. The one downstairs is two Go gyms.

Brianna:

Yeah, I just got mine off Amazon. I don't,

Baylee:

Mm-hmm.

Brianna:

I don't know if they're still doing Black Friday deals, but if they are, that would be a good time to snag it. But yeah, those are our little, if you are someone wanting to. Give a gift to yourself this season, or you have someone in your life where you're like, they like wellness stuff. All these might be something that's worth spending money on and trying. Yeah.

Baylee:

Water bottles. I honestly love a hydro jug better than a Stanley. I'm not gonna lie. Those are my favorite. Add the straw. Lemme show you.

Brianna:

Okay.

Baylee:

Add the straw. Stainless steel. 40 ounces fits in a cup holder and the straw goes down.

Brianna:

Oh, as long as it has a straw, I'm good. If it can fit in a cup holder and it has a straw, I will use it.

Baylee:

But when you have the straw going down, then you don't have like germs circulating it all the time.

Brianna:

You know what, actually that's a, because mine will be in my cup holder and my kids will be like touching

Baylee:

you hit it with your armpit like this, you enclose it and just like swing it around.

Brianna:

Yeah. I'm like when kids are like, I'm like, can you not with your, wherever your hands have been. Touch my straw.

Baylee:

Yes, we've entered the stage where Gannon wants my water.

Brianna:

all the time? Yeah.

Baylee:

I went to take a drink the other day and I had floating cheese sticks. I'm like, number one, that's just gross. Number two, you're gonna kill me. I can't have dairy. And then I have cheese marinating in my water.

Brianna:

You're gonna, you're gonna kill me, can you not to. I know, and I, I'm gonna get, what is it? Hydro Jug,

Baylee:

Mm-hmm.

Brianna:

adding it to my cart, so

Baylee:

I have a link. I'll send you a link. Yeah. Discount

Brianna:

Send me a link. Hydro jug.

Baylee:

the sport version is my favorite. They also have shakers that are stainless steel, and instead of having a shaker ball, it just is like an insert at the top. So it's silent and you don't lose them.

Brianna:

That's nice'cause those get lost. They go down the garbage disposal,

Baylee:

yeah, maybe that's where ours went.'cause we have, maybe I should have looked down there. We have

Brianna:

bottom of your dishwasher. They

Baylee:

I've checked there. Yeah.

Brianna:

Or like my kids, like, especially when they were around Gans age, they would like think there were balls.'cause they would always go through all my drawers and like they're just, who knows? Under your couch. That's a good idea. Okay. Yeah.

Baylee:

Yeah, I love the hydrogen stuff.

Brianna:

Perfect.

Baylee:

Those are some ideas for you, whether you're the wellness person or you need to give to a wellness person. Well, I guess if you're listening to this, you're probably a wellness person, so maybe splurge on yourself, splurge on a friend, and let us know what to get.

Brianna:

Yeah. All right, you guys. Have a good Thanksgiving.

Baylee:

Yes, we will talk to you guys next week. Bye.

Brianna:

Bye.
